About us
CropBiome is developing fungal endophytic inoculants (crop specific seed coatings) which act as bio-stimulants to improve crop health, resilience to disease, improve drought tolerance and help the plant absorb nutrients more efficiently.
It has also developed a unique discovery platform to recover and isolate endophytes from wild plant species for application to commercial crops. The primary focus is on cereal crops. This platform has proven the potential to be adapted and used for other crops.
CropBiome is a joint spin-out from two leading Irish Universities – University College Dublin (UCD) and Trinity College Dublin (TCD). Building on decades of academic research, it secured seed funding setting up its laboratories and offices in April 2022.
The CropBiome team combines technical, scientific, and business expertise specific to the biotech sector. We are also supported by a network of trusted and experienced partners with know-how in Field Trial validation as well as Regulatory and IP expertise.
CropBiome leaders have over 60 years expertise in plant endophyte microbiology and pathology as well as commercial and agricultural expertise.
